Lufthansa is expanding its network of U.S. destinations for the 2024 summer season with new nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham. This route will provide Research Triangle Park travelers access to Germany and other countries with convenient connections to Europe, the Middle East, India, Africa and other destinations via the carrier’s main hub in Frankfurt.
Lufthansa will be the fourth airline to offer transatlantic flights and Frankfurt will be the fourth European destination available at Raleigh-Durham by next summer. This is complemented by American Airlines services to London-Heathrow, Air France-Delta to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Icelandair to Reykjavik.
In total, by summer 2024, Raleigh-Durham will have an offering of 11,559 seats per week to and from Europe, this represents a 32% increase in transatlantic capacity compared to 2023 levels.

Service to Frankfurt will begin June 6, 2024 and will operate five days a week on Airbus A330-300 aircraft seating 255 passengers in three classes (42 Business Class/28 Premium Economy/185 Economy). The German carrier is the third Star Alliance carrier to serve Raleigh-Durham, along with its partners United Airlines and Air Canada.
Lufthansa Group’s U.S. network offers nonstop flights to: Las Vegas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Fort Myers, Salt Lake City, Tampa, Tampa, Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Newark, Washington-Dulles, Houston-Intercontinental, New York JFK, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago O’Hare, San Diego, Seattle-Tacoma, San Francisco, St. Louis and soon Raleigh-Durham and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Lufthansa will be Raleigh-Durham’s 16th airline and Frankfurt will be its eighth international destination. Raleigh has added 21 new destinations and 46 new routes by 2023. Over 25 years, Lufthansa’s service is estimated to have an economic impact of approximately $3.3 billion in North Carolina.
