Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Santiago de Chile were British Airways’ southernmost destinations in the Americas in February 1999. At that time, operations were centralized at London’s Gatwick airport, whereas today their base is Heathrow.

In 1999, the British carrier operated to these four destinations with Boeing 747-400 aircraft configured for 337 passengers in four seating classes (First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy).

Argentina, Brazil and Chile remain as regular markets for British Airways. Sao Paulo is served by Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, while Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Santiago de Chile are carried out on Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

As of October 30th, British will discontinue its nonstop flights between Buenos Aires and London and will switch to operate them via Rio de Janeiro. The airline plans to offer daily service with 275-seat Boeing 777-200(ER) aircraft.
