Lufthansa Cargo set to start operations from Munich

Lufthansa Cargo is set to widen its operations in southern Germany and will operate freighter aircraft from Munich for the first time from July 6, 2024. An Airbus A321 freighter will have services from the Bavarian capital to Istanbul Airport twice a week. The new connection is scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays and has flight numbers LH8350 / LH8351 and LH8346 / LH8347.
We are looking forward to offering our customers this new cargo connection, which makes our global network even more attractive. For our customers in southern Germany in particular, Munich Airport offers ideal conditions for fast and reliable air cargo transport, which ultimately also enables global business from another major European airport”, said Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.
With the launch of our cargo operations from Munich, we are laying the foundation for aligning our network even more closely with our customers’ needs in the future and continuing to manage it flexibly“, he added.
The launch of scheduled cargo flights to Istanbul by Lufthansa Cargo is very good news for the Bavarian export industry and for the Airport. The above-average growth rates in the current year have already shown that Munich Airport is also becoming increasingly important as a hub for cargo. The attractiveness of Munich as a cargo location will now receive a further boost thanks to the commitment of Lufthansa Cargo,” stated Jost Lammers, CEO of Flughafen München GmbH.
Lufthansa Cargo operates in Munich with a total area of 38,000 square meters. The facility also integrates the modern CEIV-certified Pharma Hub MUC, where temperature-sensitive drugs can be stored and processed under optimum conditions.
Consequently, this means that carriers can also move almost all goods and product groups through Munich. Until now, those were transported worldwide from the Bavarian capital mainly by belly cargo capacity of Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Discovery, Austrian Airlines and SunExpress aircraft.
