Finnair Completes €200 Million Modernization of Long-Haul Fleet

Finnair has successfully completed the €200 million modernization of its long-haul aircraft fleet, a move aimed at significantly enhancing the customer experience.

The extensive project introduced entirely new products across Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. Launched initially in 2022, the next-generation cabins have been rolled out across the airline’s entire fleet of Airbus A330s and A350s over the past two years. Now, all Finnair customers can enjoy the updated cabins on routes from Helsinki to the United States, the Middle East, and Asia.

“After just two years, it is fantastic to have completed the rollout of our new award-winning long-haul cabin. Since its launch in 2022, customer feedback on our revolutionary Business Class seat and brand-new Premium Economy cabin has been excellent. We are proud to offer the revamped cabin on flights to all our long-haul destinations,” said Ole Orvér, Finnair’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Finnair was the launch customer for a new Business Class concept developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. Designed to maximize space, the unique fixed-frame lounge seats offer a variety of seating and sleeping positions, enhancing passenger comfort on long-haul flights.

The cabin design draws inspiration from Finnair’s Nordic heritage, featuring a warm, dark, and welcoming color palette. This aligns with the design of the airline’s non-Schengen lounges, which opened at Helsinki Airport prior to the pandemic.

Looking ahead, Finnair plans to continue investing in its customer experience and fleet. The airline has announced an upcoming cabin upgrade for its E190 regional aircraft. These short-haul aircraft, which service many of Finnair’s popular Nordic destinations, will soon feature new cabins inspired by the current colors and designs of Finnair’s long-haul fleet.
