Sim-U-Tech, a crew training center located in Texas, has acquired a level D full flight simulator (FFS) for the Airbus A320 from Avion. The acquisition marks Avion’s debut in the US flight simulator market.
Michiel Verdonk, Sales Manager of Avion, and Kenneth Haney, President and CEO of Sim-U-Tech, have sealed the deal. Avion Group CEO, Manoj Pandey, expressed pride, stating that «this marks a pivotal moment in our global expansion.»
Based in the Netherlands, Avion manufactures flight simulators for pilot training. The company also operates a training center at London Luton Airport, offering its A320neo FFS for hourly lease. Avion’s second training center is set to open this summer in Mumbai, India. Additionally, it is currently developing a new FFS for the Boeing 737 MAX.

A level D simulator simulates all aircraft systems that are accessible from the flight deck and are critical for training. For example, avionics, communications, and displays are simulated. This standard is used for both initial and recurrent training for commercial air transport aircraft. Crucially, an FFS also provides motion feedback to the crew through a platform on which the simulator cockpit is mounted. This produces accelerations in the six degrees of freedom that a free body can experience in space.
The A320 FFS provided to Sim-U-Tech is equipped with CEO and NEO engine configurations and the latest Airbus 2.1 standard. Haney noted that he chose Avion’s simulator for its performance and environmental respect. The A320 family comprises the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft.
