Lufthansa Extends Suspension of Flights to Iran

Lufthansa continues to postpone the resumption of its flights to Iran due to the high tensions caused by the Islamic dictatorship.

The decision by the German company to delay flights until June 16, already suspended since April 19, was made on Saturday, before the crash of the Bell 212 Twin Huey helicopter carrying the country’s president, Ebrahim Raisi, yesterday, according to the Iran International agency.

The flights, operated from Frankfurt by Lufthansa and from Vienna by its subsidiary Austrian, were suspended in April after Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel, posing a risk to air traffic in the region.

Since the decision is by the airline and not by governments, Iran Air continues to connect Germany with Tehran regularly, as do other European countries.

The German airline flew five times a week with Airbus A340-300 aircraft and Austrian operated a weekly flight from Vienna with A330-200.
