Eva Air has placed a new order for wide-body aircraft from Boeing. The Taiwanese airline aims to bolster its long-haul services, as reported by local media outlets.
During a stock market presentation, the airline confirmed an order for four additional Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, each valued at $488 million. Notably, Eva Air was not listed in Boeing’s first-quarter results presentation.
In Boeing’s April orders and deliveries summary, only two 787-10s and other 777Xs were declared. It is speculated that Eva Air and Boeing will finalize the purchase agreement during the Farnborough Air Show, scheduled for June 22nd to 26th.
Eva Air currently operates a fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, including four 787-9s and eleven 787-10s. In 2023, the airline placed an order for an additional five 787-9s, with deliveries starting in 2025.
The 787-10s of Eva Air are designated for high-density routes in Asia, such as Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul, and Bangkok. These aircraft also serve long-haul routes to Australia and the United States.
Eva Air’s long-haul fleet includes a variety of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Earlier this year, Eva Air placed an order for 33 aircraft from the European manufacturer, including 18 A350-1000s and 15 A321neos. The A350-1000s will replace the Boeing 777-300ERs, while the A321neos will substitute the A321ceos.
