Wizz Air will lease two aircraft from SkyUp Airlines between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The planes will be provided to Wizz Air under a wet leasing contract, which includes aircraft, crews, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI).
Both aircraft will be deployed to Wizz Air’s operating bases in Warsaw (WAW) and Bucharest (OTP). The aircraft serving the ultra-low-cost carrier will be two Boeing 737-800.
Dmytro Sieroukhov, CEO of SkyUp Airlines, stated: “The development of transportation under ACMI contracts is currently a central component of our development strategy. Signing the contract with Wizz Air is an important step for us because we already have a positive experience of cooperation with this airline.”

These 737-800s arrived for Wizz Air due to the scheduled maintenance of the Airbus A320neo equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines. These aircraft are already undergoing thorough inspections, estimating a minimum of two months grounded.
Wizz Air currently has six A320neo, of which five have been grounded since November 2023. The 737-800s will replace the A320neo to meet the demand for the 2024 summer season that is beginning.

Since 2022, SkyUp has begun operating flights for other airlines under ACMI contracts. The list of cooperating airlines includes Tunisair, FlyOne, HiSky SRL, HiSky Europe SRL, Wizz Air Malta, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Corendon Dutch, Tailwind Airlines, and FlyEgypt.
