WestJet expands codeshare agreement with Korean Air to add new Asian destinations

WestJet adds six additional Asian destinations to its network thanks to the expansion of its codeshare agreement with Korean Air. Effective May 17, WestJet customers will be able to access six additional cities in four Asian countries from Incheon International Airport.

Among the benefits of this agreement, passengers will be able to enjoy more unique trans-Pacific Asian destinations beyond Seoul through a connection at Incheon Airport and the convenience of single-ticket booking, baggage transfer and earning points on WestJet Dollars throughout their journey.

New WestJet codeshare destinations

  • Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)
  • Da Nang, Vietnam (DAD)
  • Hanoi, Vietnam (HAN)
  • Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (SGN)
  • Hong Kong, China (HKG)
  • Singapore (SIN)

«As we prepare for WestJet’s inaugural flights between Calgary and Incheon, the timing of this codeshare expansion is ideal. We are enhancing connectivity to more destinations in Asia for our guests and WestJet Rewards members from one of the world’s busiest cities, and Korean Air’s global hub,» said Jeff Hagen, WestJet’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships.

Last year WestJet began operations in Asia with non-stop flights to Tokyo-Narita with three weekly flights, this summer it will fly daily to the Japanese capital and is adding a seasonal route between Calgary and Seoul-Incheon, which will begin May 17, 2024 with three weekly flights on Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

«The launch of WestJet’s Calgary – Seoul Incheon route will strengthen connectivity between Korea and Canada, while our enhanced partnership will seamlessly connect customers to an expanded range of Asian and Canadian cities through our hubs in Incheon and Calgary, respectively,» said Tae Joon Kim, Korean Air’s Senior Vice President and Head of International Affairs and Alliances.
