Lufthansa Technik Malta completes first Boeing 787 maintenance

-

Lufthansa Technik Malta (LTM) has successfully concluded its inaugural maintenance operation on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The C-check task was performed on a 787-9 belonging to LOT Polish Airlines, registered as SP-LSC. Lufthansa Technik Malta has invested several million euros in technical support for the Boeing 787, including training and procurement of necessary tools and materials.

The c-check entails extensive inspections of the aircraft’s various systems and structures. LTM boasts extensive experience in maintaining composite-built aircraft, having provided maintenance for the Airbus A350 for many years. Additionally, Lufthansa Technik’s global network offers a range of packages applying various non-destructive testing procedures for composite materials.

Maria Cilia, CEO of LTM, expressed her thoughts on the achievement. “After years of exclusively servicing Airbus models here in Malta, it feels special to once again cater to Boeing aircraft. And with this aircraft adorned with LOT’s special livery, what better way to introduce the Dreamliner to our facility? It’s a significant milestone for us and speaks volumes about how much our company has grown and evolved. I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my team for their dedication, passion, and ongoing commitment to our clients and our company.”

This marks not only LTM’s first 787 check but also its inaugural base maintenance service for the Polish carrier, according to Andreas van de Kuil, Vice President of Central Sales for Europe and the CIS at LTM.
