Aerus announced an increase in connectivity in the states of Yucatán and Quintana Roo. The Mexican regional airline will inaugurate three new routes in the Aztec region.
The company will offer new daily flights between Mérida (MID) and Cancún (CUN); Cozumel (CZM) and Chichén Itzá (CZA); and Mérida and Villahermosa (VSA) starting from May 13th and July 1st.
The service to the Cancún International Airport will operate from terminal two. The new flights will have the following schedule:
Javier Herrera, CEO of Aerus, said: «The aim of this new route is to offer travelers a unique, comfortable, and efficient travel experience. This is a very important step that opens the doors to a more tourist-oriented and connected market to the local area.»
The opening of these new routes will boost local tourism, offering air connections between the main cities of the Yucatán peninsula and the archaeological center of Chichén Itzá, as well as connecting with the paradisiacal beaches of Cancún.
The new routes will also benefit local residents and entrepreneurs who travel between these cities regularly, contributing to their economic growth.
Aerus aims to connect the Yucatán peninsula with up to 116 weekly flights using Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft with capacities of between 9 and 12 seats, providing approximately more than a thousand weekly seats.
Based in Monterrey, the company operates in nine cities in the northeast and Gulf of Mexico region: Ciudad Victoria (CVM), Matamoros (MAM), Monterrey (MTY), Piedras Negras (PDS), Reynosa (REX), San Luis de Potosí (SLP), Tampico (TAM), Veracruz (VER), and Villahermosa (VSA). In 2023, the company transported 12,610 passengers, according to AFAC Mexico.
