SWISS began flights to Washington Dulles, its eighth destination in the U.S.

As part of its intercontinental expansion, SWISS International Air Lines began nonstop flights between Zurich and Washington Dulles, strengthening Swiss-U.S. ties. The airline plans to introduce new services to Toronto-Pearson and Seoul-Incheon this year.

The LX flight was operated on an Airbus A330-300 registered as HB-JHL. The aircraft took off from Zurich Airport at 13:55 local time and landed at Dulles International Airport at 17:51, after eight hours and 56 minutes.

Washington is the second destination after New York JFK where the Lufthansa Group’s four main intercontinental airlines operate. In addition to the new SWISS route, the U.S. capital is served by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels from hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Brussels.

The airline will offer 3,304 seats per week between Zurich and Washington-Dulles, this route is also operated by its partner United Airlines. The SWISS U.S. network also serves New York JFK, Newark, Chicago O’Hare, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Flight schedule between Zurich and Washington

  • Zurich – Washington Flight LX 72 ZRH 12:25 – IAD 16:15 daily flights.
  • Washington – Zurich Flight LX 73 IAD 20:45 – ZRH 10:50+1 daily flights.

The route is operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a configuration of 8 First Class seats, 45 in Business Class and 183 in Economy.
