Ryanair presents a record flight schedule at Catania for the summer of 2024. with more than 650 weekly flights on 40 routes including five new destinations. With this announcement the low cost airline will base an additional aircraft and create more than 2,800 jobs including pilots, cabin crew and engineers.

Ryanair sees an opportunity to grow in Sicily for this the Sicilian government should reduce access costs and abolish municipal surcharges/taxes on tourism that hinders the growth of tourism and does not contribute to Catania’s airports.

The low cost airline is set to move over 3 million passengers to Sicily and create over 1,200 additional jobs. This guarantees growth in tourism and connectivity.

«Today’s announcement represents a further confirmation of the strong partnership with Ryanair and of the joint will to develop our airport» said Nico Torrisi, CEO of SAC, the airport operator.

«The new routes and the important investments in Catania confirm the constant commitment of SAC and the airline, which have always put the needs of travelers at the center, to contribute significantly to the economic growth of the territory and to the valorization of the Region. Our priority, as SAC, is to combine the guarantee of a wide choice of destinations, coupled with the best travel experience, with the tourist and commercial development of Catania and Sicily as a whole,» he added.
