Rio de Janeiro and TAP Air Portugal analyze a partnership to boost international tourism

Last Wednesday (7), Rio de Janeiro State Government authorities met with representatives of TAP Air Portugal to discuss cooperation strategies aimed at attracting European tourists to the State from the more than 50 European destinations operated by the company.

The meeting, held at the Laranjeiras Palace, was attended by the Secretary of State for the Civil House, Nicola Miccione, and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Gustavo Tutuca, as well as the airline’s president, Luis Rodrigues, and company executives.

“Dialogue with the aviation sector is fundamental to foster tourism and the economic development of our state. Today, Rio de Janeiro has regained its credibility and is once again the postcard of Brazil,” said the Secretary of the Civil House, Nicola Miccione.

Between February 28th and March 3rd, the State Secretariat of Tourism will be present at the BTL in Lisbon, one of the largest tourism fairs in the world, with its own stand promoting the 12 tourist regions of Rio de Janeiro. The partnership between the state government and TAP is expected to be closed at the event.

Currently, TAP has 10 weekly flights between Rio and Lisbon, and two weekly flights between Rio and Porto, totaling 12 flights to Portugal. Starting in March, the Rio-Lisbon route will have two more weekly flights, increasing from 10 to 12 flights. In total, there will be 14 weekly flights to Portugal.
