Smartwings and Lufthansa Technik have signed an agreement to provide comprehensive LEAP-1B engine maintenance services for the Boeing 737 MAX fleet of the largest Czech airline. The first commissioning is scheduled for early 2025. Also, the existing service contract for the CFM56-7B engines powering Smartwings’ fleet of 30 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft has been extended to 2030.

«Building on our successful cooperation, the newly signed long-term agreement for Engine Maintenance Services for our Boeing 737 NG and MAX fleet shows our continued confidence in Lufthansa Technik’s expertise and will further optimize our technical operations,» said Jiri Juran, Chairman of the Board of Smartwings.

«We are grateful for the continued confidence of our partner Smartwings. The new contract is another important milestone in our cooperation. With the growth of our LEAP-1B engine support capability, our customers can significantly benefit from our commitment to offer world-class engine MRO services,» said Harald Gloy, Chief Operations & HR Officer of Lufthansa Technik.

Lufthansa Technik already offers comprehensive component support services for Smartwings Boeing 737 Next Generation and MAX 8 aircraft, including component maintenance, repair, and overhaul, as well as access to resource libraries and component delivery at select international airports in Europe.
