Copa Airlines Launches Flights to Raleigh-Durham, Tulum and Florianopolis

Copa Airlines announced this Monday the launch of three unprecedented destinations in its network: Tulum, the brand new airport of the Mexican Caribbean; Florianópolis, a popular beach destination in southern Brazil; and Raleigh-Durham, in North Carolina.

In this way, the airline’s network from its hub in Panama will reach 85 destinations in 32 countries across the Americas.

“We remain committed to our purpose of shortening distances and facilitating connections, allowing Panama to continue being the bridge that unites thousands of people throughout the continent, while contributing to the economic development of the communities where we operate,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

“This strategic expansion not only promotes the cultural exchange of the region but also encourages and deepens tourism and business in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. It also opens the opportunity for more tourists to enjoy the wonders of Panama thanks to the Panama Stopover program,” he added.

Flights to Raleigh-Durham

Copa Airlines will start flying to the gateway of North Carolina’s «Research Triangle» on June 15, 2024.

The route will have four weekly flights, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing from Panama at 8:56 AM to arrive in Raleigh-Durham at 2:28 PM. The return flight will be at 4:20 PM, landing at the Hub of the Americas at 7:46 PM (all times are local).

Raleigh-Durham will be Copa Airlines’ 16th destination in the continental United States after Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Baltimore, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Washington-Dulles, New York-JFK, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Miami, Chicago-O’Hare, San Francisco, and Tampa.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Copa Airlines currently operates 223 weekly flights to the United States, representing an offering of 36,048 seats per direction.

Flights to Florianópolis

The flights of Copa Airlines between Panama and Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, will be inaugurated on June 25, 2024. It will be its seventh destination in Brazil after Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro-Galeao, Sao Paulo-Guarulhos, Manaus, and Porto Alegre.

The company will initially operate three weekly flights, departing from Tocumen Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 3:23 PM to arrive in Florianópolis at 12:22 AM the next day. In the opposite direction, the flight will depart from the Brazilian city on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays at 1:25 AM, landing in Panama at 6:30 AM. All times are local.

Copa Airlines operates about 75 weekly flights to Brazil, with an offering of 12,500 seats per direction.

Flights to Tulum

The brand new Mexican Caribbean airport will start receiving flights from Copa Airlines starting June 25, 2024.

«Located south of Quintana Roo between the Riviera Maya and Bacalar, on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, it is known for its diversity of experiences to enjoy such as the vibrant archaeological, cultural, and spiritual offer that this enigmatic destination offers, ecotourism parks, cenotes, art, cuisine, nature reserves, and as an added value, the destinations of Mahaual, Bacalar, and Chetumal full of attractions and experiences,» Copa emphasizes.

The company will operate four weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing from Panama at 7:45 AM to arrive in Tulum at 10:34 AM. The return flight will be at 11:44 AM, landing at Tocumen Airport at 2:23 PM. All times are local.

Tulum will be Copa Airlines’ fifth destination in Mexico after Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The airline operates 96 weekly flights, which translates into an offering of 14,784 seats per direction.
