easyJet and CFM sign agreement for 314 LEAP-1A engines for Airbus A320/321neo

easyJet has announced an agreement with CFM International for the acquisition of 314 CFM LEAP-1A engines. The purpose of this order is to equip the firm contract for 157 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, as well as to set the price for 200 engines for the additional 100 option aircraft and spare units.

The relationship between easyJet and the American manufacturer CFM dates back to 1995: since then, the airline has powered its entire fleet with CFM engines. Agreements for new aircraft and engines are key elements in easyJet’s fleet renewal and modernization plan, generating benefits in terms of both costs and sustainability.

The order placed by easyJet with Airbus includes 56 A320neo and 101 A321neo, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034, following shareholder approval in December 2023. The CFM LEAP-1A engines will be designated to power both aircraft models.

The CEO of easyJet, Johan Lundgren, stated: «We are very pleased to have signed this agreement with CFM after a competitive selection process. This deal for over 300 engines will provide substantial environmental benefits through a significant improvement in fuel efficiency and noise reduction, allowing easyJet to solidify its leadership position at major airports in Europe.

«easyJet has a long history of collaboration with CFM, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the coming years,» he added.

Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International, affirmed: «We are proud to embark on this new journey with easyJet, a trusted partner who shares our ambition to build a more sustainable air transport. We remain committed to delivering the best of CFM in terms of efficiency, reliability, and first-class customer service.»
