Azul Linhas Aéreas plans to incorporate more wide-body aircraft

-

Azul Linhas Aéreas is moving to advance the expansion of its widebody fleet as it awaits deliveries of its orders for new A330-900 (A330neo) aircraft.

The company reserved license plates for two Airbus A330-200s, PR-AIP and PR-AIQ, manufactured in 2012 and 2013, which flew for Avianca and were stored in Colombia. But in addition to the used first-generation equipment, the Brazilian carrier is also moving to bring in two pre-owned jets of the latest generation A330neo.

The registration numbers PR-ANB and PR-ANC have already been reserved by Azul in the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB), associated respectively with A330-900 aircraft with serial numbers 1901 and 1903.

These two widebody jets were manufactured for Icelandic WOW Air, but the company ceased operations in March 2019 before taking delivery. Consequently, they were delivered in August 2019 to Thailand’s AirAsiaX.
