JetSMART Peru Achieves Milestone of 2 Million Passengers Transported in a Year and a Half of Operations

-

In just a year and a half since the commencement of its operations, the Peruvian subsidiary of the Indigo Partners ultra-low-cost carrier, JetSMART Peru, celebrates the milestone of transporting over 2 million passengers.

The airline, which initiated operations in June 2022 in the competitive Peruvian market, has successfully mobilized 2,002,753 passengers through 12,500 flights, maintaining an impressive average occupancy of 85%.

Francesca Luna, General Manager of JetSMART in Peru, shared her enthusiasm about this notable achievement: «We have doubled the number of passengers in half a year, going from one million announced in May to two million to date. We are very pleased with the year-end results and grateful for the trust and support of our passengers, especially those more than 209 thousand first-time flyers who have found in us an affordable, quality, fast, and secure alternative.»

With the addition of a sixth aircraft in December, JetSMART plans to further strengthen its growth initiatives. Francesca Luna elaborated: «With this new aircraft, we will reinforce our growth plans, including the soon-to-come expansion of frequencies on several of our domestic routes and the initiation of new international routes to Medellín, Cartagena, Cúcuta in Colombia, and the most recent ones to Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador, commencing operations next year in March and April, respectively.»

Internationally, the airline offers flights to Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Medellín, Cartagena, and Cúcuta. Additionally, from the city of Trujillo, there is a direct flight to Santiago de Chile.

The expansion continues for JetSMART, as on March 6, 2024, it will inaugurate their route between Lima and Quito, followed by the commencement of operations to Guayaquil on April 4, 2024.
