Delta is set to broaden its Asia network next summer. The airline announced the commencement of daily nonstop service from Seattle (SEA) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), starting June 6, 2024, pending government approval.
This route represents Delta’s inaugural nonstop flight to Taipei from the U.S. and marks the first Delta aircraft operation to TPE since 2017, previously operating via Narita International Airport.
Joan Wang, Managing Director – Global Sales, Seattle, emphasized the route’s significance, stating, «This route not only opens new doors to Taipei’s captivating skyline, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural heritage, but also enhances Seattle’s global connectivity significantly.» She highlighted the strategic addition to Delta’s trans-Pacific portfolio, enhancing both business and leisure travel opportunities in the Seattle market.
As Delta marks its 90th anniversary in Seattle this December, the airline reminisces its journey that started with Northwest Airways in 1933. Delta’s operations began on June 1, 1980, connecting SEA with several major destinations. Currently, Delta operates over 160 daily departures from SEA to 50 destinations worldwide, making it a key gateway across the Pacific, including four non-stop trans-Pacific destinations.
Delta’s Commitment to the Asia-Pacific Region
Jeff Moomaw, Vice President – APAC, expressed excitement about Delta’s expanding presence in the Asia-Pacific region, declaring this addition a testament to the airline’s robust growth commitment in the area.
The Taipei service, operated on an Airbus A330-900neo, promises a premium onboard experience with Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin offerings. The airline assures a top-tier service, including lie-flat seats in Delta One, plush bedding, and a seasonal four-course meal.
Delta’s expansion is supported by its joint venture with Korean Air, offering customers additional connectivity to 80 destinations in Asia through Korean Air’s hub at ICN.
