Asiana Airlines begins flights to Melbourne

Asiana Airlines expanded its global network with a second destination in Australia after the start of seasonal services from Seoul-Incheon to Melbourne International Airport with twice weekly flights from 26 December 2023. With this new route, all three major Australian cities will be connected to South Korea.

Flight OZ 6033 takes off on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Incheon International Airport at 08:00 and lands at Melbourne Airport at 20:30. The return OZ 6043 departs the Victorian capital at 22:00 and arrives in Seoul at 06:40 the following day. The route is operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft seating 311 passengers in three classes (28 Business Class/36 Premium Economy/247 Economy).

“Until now, Seoul was one of our largest underserved markets, and travellers were forced to connect via other ports in Australia or Asia. These direct services will allow Victorian passengers and exporters to avoid the cost and inconvenience of transiting through another city to reach South Korea,” said Jim Parashos, Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation.

Asiana Airlines becomes the 38th international carrier at Melbourne International Airport. The Korean airline’s service will offer multiple connections to other Asian destinations and will be complemented by nine weekly flights from Sydney operated on Airbus A380s. In total, Asiana will have 8,174 seats per week between South Korea and Australia for the austral summer.

Popular airlines serving Melbourne include Air New Zealand Cathay Pacific Airways, China Southern, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Japan Airlines, LATAM Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, United Airlines and Virgin Australia,
