Arajet Breaks Record in November, Captures 75% of Passenger Traffic Among Dominican Airlines

Arajet, the Caribbean’s low-cost carrier, has emerged as the most active Dominican airline in November. The airline transported a total of 54,243 passengers, marking a record month in its 14-month operational history and claiming a substantial 75% of the total passenger traffic among national carriers.
This data, presented in the recent report by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), highlights the advancements in the commercial aviation sector of the Dominican Republic, led by Arajet. The carrier now ranks as the second airline in terms of operations at Las Américas International Airport, surpassing international carriers such as American Airlines, Delta, and Copa.

Strategic Vision and Growth

Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and Founder of Arajet, expressed that these figures are a testament to Arajet’s increasing significance in the national air operation, transforming the Dominican Republic into the new aviation hub of the Americas. «We are proud that these 54,243 passengers chose Arajet to visit the Dominican Republic. Additionally, over 10,000 used Arajet for connecting flights to other destinations in the continent, totaling more than 66,000 passengers in a single month. We anticipate exceeding 70,000 in December,» he said.

Pacheco Méndez revealed plans to turn Santo Domingo into the new Caribbean hub, connecting the continent and aiming to transport between 5% and 10% of tourists visiting the country in 2024.

Dominican Airlines’ Passenger Traffic

According to the JAC report, Dominican-based airlines collectively transported 72,687 passengers in November 2023, accounting for 5% of the total passenger traffic by all airlines to and from the country. Following Arajet, Sky High was the second national airline in passenger traffic with 18%, and Air Century ranked third with 6%.
