Air China Cargo took delivery of its first Airbus A330P2F

Air China Cargo, Airbus, and Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) celebrated the arrival of the first Airbus A330P2F for the Chinese airline. This marks the beginning of the conversion of eight A330 passenger planes into cargo planes, a project that the freight company commissioned in early 2023.

The entire fleet of aircraft to be received by Air China Cargo will be owned by the airline, which currently operates the cargo capacity in the holds of the parent company’s passenger planes.

The arrival of the new A330P2F planes will provide Air China Cargo with extensive experience in operating cargo aircraft from Airbus. It’s noteworthy that the airline is the only national flag cargo airline. «Strengthening our cargo aircraft fleet with converted Airbus freighters was a natural step,» said Hongyan Wang, Vice President of Air China.

This aircraft was delivered to Ameco, a conversion partner of EFW, at its Chengdu facilities in the late first quarter of 2023. The aircraft is handed over to Air China Cargo on schedule, and the second A330P2F is currently in the conversion process, nearing its delivery.

«We are delighted with the new delivery and that Air China Cargo will operate converted Airbus freighters for the first time. We look forward to seeing an A330P2F adorned with the distinctive colors of Air China Cargo in its air cargo mission,» said Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW.
