Air Canada has presented its summer schedule, featuring new routes and destinations with increased frequencies on key routes. Among them, the airline will be the first Canadian carrier to fly to Tulum (TQO) from Montreal/Trudeau (YUL) and Toronto/Pearson (YYZ), making it the second destination in the Yucatan Peninsula.
During the summer season, the airline operates flights to Cancun (CUN) and Cozumel (CZM) from Quebec, Toronto, and Montreal in the Mexican Caribbean region. In winter, Cancun is joined by routes to Edmonton (YEG), Halifax (YHZ), Ottawa (YOW), Vancouver (YVR), and Winnipeg (YWG).

Air Canada’s network diversification strategy to add capacity to in-demand leisure destinations like Tulum,» stated Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue at Air Canada.

Without connectivity, there is no tourism, and the two new routes to the new Tulum International Airport, ready to receive five million passengers, will boost the arrival of tourists from our second most important source market for international tourists,» said Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism, Mexico.
The flights will be operated with Airbus A321ceo aircraft, configured for 184 and 196 seats, from its low-cost subsidiary Air Canada Rouge.

Tulum: Eight Airlines and 1 Destinations
On December 1, 2024, the new «Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport» officially opened, serving Tulum in the state of Quintana Roo, creating a new gateway for one of the major tourist hubs in the Caribbean.
Situated in the heart of the Mayan jungle, the Tulum airport, funded by the federal government with an investment of 3.2 billion pesos, emerges as the new entry point to Quintana Roo to alleviate the traffic at the Cancun airport.
Following the official announcement of the international airport’s opening, several airlines revealed their plans to operate from there. Aeromexico and Viva Aerobus were the first, connecting Tulum to five domestic airports starting in December.
Four U.S. airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and American Airlines, will commence operations between March 28 and 31. Together, they will link Tulum with ten cities in the United States.
Recently, it was announced that jetBlue will fly daily to New York starting June 13, 2024.
Now, with Air Canada’s announcement, there will be eight airlines and 18 destinations in Tulum.
