SCAT Airlines signs agreement for seven additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

At the Dubai Airshow, SCAT Airlines announced its decision to expand its Boeing 737 MAX fleet with an order for seven additional 737-8 airplanes. This move aims to enhance its capacity for new European routes and improve the airline’s operational efficiency.

Vladimir Denissov, President of JSC SCAT Airlines, emphasized the significance of this expansion. «Replenishing the fleet with seven more Boeing 737-8 will increase the airline’s carrying capacity. It will also positively affect the timely execution of flight schedules,» Denissov stated. He further noted that this addition would enable SCAT Airlines to offer more travel destinations to its passengers.

Based in Şhymkent, Kazakhstan, SCAT Airlines operates an extensive network, serving both domestic and international destinations primarily in the Commonwealth of Independent States and Central Asia. The airline is recognized for being the first in Central Asia to operate the 737 MAX. Before this latest acquisition, SCAT’s fleet included three 737-8 and five 737-9 airplanes.

Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, commented on the deal. «This repeat order is a testament to SCAT’s confidence in the value, performance, and reliability of the 737 MAX family,» McMullen said. He expressed Boeing’s commitment to supporting SCAT Airlines’ network expansion and its long-term success.

The 737 MAX family is known for its efficiency and performance. The 737-8 model, which SCAT Airlines has opted for, can accommodate up to 210 passengers depending on its configuration and offers a range of up to 6,480 km (3,500 nautical miles).

The order was previously unidentified on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website, now revealing SCAT Airlines’ strategic move to enhance its fleet and service capabilities.
