Tecnam has announced that its P2012 STOL model is on track to obtain certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) by the end of 2023.
This aircraft is specifically designed to operate in some of the world’s most challenging airports, thanks to its Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities. According to the company, all the test flights it has undergone have either met or exceeded the design parameters. Initial deliveries to customers are scheduled to begin in January, and the aircraft is already in full production.
According to Tecnam, the P2012 STOL offers operators a modern, spacious, comfortable, and secure aircraft, all while providing STOL capabilities. The model boasts a cabin that is 34% wider, 24% more legroom, and 303% more luggage space compared to its competitor, the Britten-Norman Islander. The interior features a central aisle and individual windows for each of the nine passengers. Additionally, each seat is equipped with its own USB port, air conditioning outlet, reading lights, magazine pockets, and cup holders.

The cabin is equipped with the latest in avionics, including the G1000 NXi system and a GFC700 autopilot. Connectivity is achieved through Bluetooth and Iridium satellite connection. Flight aids include a weather radar, storm scanner, dynamic maps, and synthetic vision.
The P2012 can carry 1,284 kg of cargo. At maximum weight (3,680 kg or 8,113 lbs), the takeoff run requires only 315 meters. When landing at maximum weight (3,630 kg), the ground roll is 225 meters.
