Japan Airlines has unveiled the seat map and details of the new cabins of its Airbus A350-1000, becoming the airline’s new flagship for its international services. The aircraft will gradually replace the entire Boeing 777-300ER fleet and its first route is planned to be Tokyo/Haneda – New York JFK (JL005/JL006) from November.
The new Airbus A350-1000 will have a capacity of 239 seats in a four-class configuration: six First Class suites, 54 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy, 155 Economy. Japan Airlines’ configuration on its A350-1000 is the second least dense in the market, behind only Qantas, which has 238 seats in four classes.
All Boeing 777-300ERs will be replaced in 2028, the airline expects to take delivery of two A350-1000s in 2023, then by 2025 it expects to have a fleet of nine units and by 2028 to finalize the order for 13 units.
First Class
The new First Class will have six seats spread across two rows in a 1-1-1 configuration. In addition, for the first time, the airline will offer sliding doors for greater privacy for customers. This new product was manufactured by Safran Seats GB (UK).

Business Class
The new Business Class will have 54 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration with a 14-row section. The product was manufactured by Safran Seats GB (UK) and like First Class, for the first time, the airline will offer sliding doors in Business Class.

- Seat will have a leg rest system that can tilt to 90 degrees.
Economy
The Economy section will have 155 seats spread across 18 rows in a 3-3-3 configuration. The product was manufactured by RECARO (GE).
