British Airways resumes flights to Abu Dhabi after four years

After four years, British Airways is resuming non-stop flights between London-Heathrow and Abu Dhabi International Airport. The British airline is the second European airline to reactivate its operations in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, after Air France.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), 1.119.673 passengers were mobilized between London and Abu Dhabi in 2019. This service was the third most important Middle East route at Heathrow Airport. British Airways will compete in this segment with Etihad Airways.

British Airways’ offering in the United Arab Emirates is complemented by a schedule of three daily flights between London-Heathrow and Dubai operated on Airbus A380s and Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. In total, the airline for next year will have a capacity of 16.598 seats per week between the UAE and the UK.

«Abu Dhabi is a unique destination that returns to our network with great satisfaction. With a mix of beach, city and desert, it has everything our customers are looking for in a trip to the Middle East, and we look forward to welcoming them back on board as we grow our presence in the UAE,» said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Network and Alliances Director.
