American Airlines Expands Northeast Coast Operation

American Airlines will add seven new nonstop services for the 2024 summer season giving travelers more options for their vacations. Expansion includes six new destinations from LaGuardia Airport, bringing American’s network from New York to 75 nonstop destinations

American continues to build a network that offers customers the most comprehensive access to the places they want to visit with nine new routes for next summer. New service to Hyannis, expanded service from New York and more international service grow American’s largest global network, connecting more cities than any other U.S. airline, for a summer like no other,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Schedules.

New service to the Northeast Coast

American for the first time will have service to Hyannis, Massachusetts, the airline will operate a daily flight from New York-LaGuardia and Washington-National. American will be the only global network carrier to offer service to the airport, connecting to more than 80 destinations in North America.

American’s expansion is complemented by five Northeast Coast services from LaGuardia, including service to Halifax, Canada.

From Washington-National:

  • Hyannis, Massachusetts: daily flights beginning June 22, 2024.

From New York-LaGuardia:

  • Bangor, Maine: daily flights beginning June 5, 2024.
  • Halifax, Canada: daily flights beginning June 5, 2024.
  • Hyannis, Massachusetts: daily flights beginning June 5, 2024.
  • Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts: daily flights beginning June 22, 2024.
  • Nantucket, Massachusetts (ACK): daily flights beginning June 5, 2024.
  • Portland, Maine: two daily flights beginning June 5, 2024.

All of these new services will be operated by American Eagle on 76-seat Embraer 175 aircraft.

Strengthening New England connectivity

By next summer, American will provide more than 20 daily flights from Maine to six of its U.S. hubs. With one-stop connections to more than 200 destinations worldwide. In addition, American is the only U.S. airline serving Nova Scotia, providing access to the Bay of Fundy and Peggy’s Cove.

American offers new service to Canada and Bermuda

Effective June 5, 2024, for the first time American will fly between Charlotte and Vancouver, the only nonstop service between North Carolina and British Columbia. In addition, it will resume the Washington-National and Bermuda route beginning April 4, 2024, adding a fifth airport to the airline’s network in Bermuda.

In August, American made a major transatlantic expansion for the 2024 summer season with new nonstop service from Philadelphia to Copenhagen, Naples and Nice.
