The last Viva Aerobus operation in Miami was on May 5, 2012 with a service operated by Boeing 737-300. The Mexican company will compete with American Airlines on its two new routes. Due to Mexico’s elevation to Category 1 status, the airline has made a significant expansion in the United States.

The low-cost carrier will offer 3,036 weekly seats to and from Miami International Airport next summer. In addition, Viva Aerobus’ Florida schedule also includes two new routes from Merida and Monterrey to Orlando.

Mexico has been one of the fastest growing travel destinations at MIA in recent years, and I am excited to see Viva Aerobus add to that growth with its new service to Monterrey and Merida coming soon,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

In addition to Miami, Viva Aerobus’ U.S. expansion also includes new service to Oakland, Austin, Denver and Orlando. In addition to expanding its international operations, the low-cost airline announced 17 new domestic routes at Felipe Angeles International Airport, strengthening domestic connectivity in the region.
