Aer Lingus celebrates two years of transatlantic operations in Manchester

Aer Lingus is celebrating two years of transatlantic flights from Manchester Airport, having moved up to half a million passengers since launching services in October 2021.

The decision to introduce these flights was in response to growing customer demand and over the last 24 months capacity has increased as Aer Lingus has captured more of the market.

«We are proud to have increased choice for consumers in the north of England, who can now travel direct to destinations as diverse as New York, Orlando and Barbados, in addition to the eleven daily flights operated by Aer Lingus from Manchester to Dublin and Belfast,» said Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus Customer Service Director

The Irish airline has increased its capacity by an additional 63,000 seats in April this year by basing another Airbus A330-300. When Aer Lingus began operations from Manchester, it did so with one A330 and one Airbus A321LR.

The A330 schedule includes daily flights to New York and four weekly flights from Orlando. In addition, the winter schedule will bring direct service to the Caribbean with flights to Barbados and will operate three times a week from November 1.

The success of Manchester-based Aer Lingus’ transatlantic operations has prompted the expansion of its network to North American destinations. For the 2024 summer season, the airline will offer new routes from Dublin to Denver and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

«Northern passengers can fly direct from Manchester to destinations as varied as America, Barbados and, of course, Dublin with Aer Lingus. This partnership helps us connect the North to the world and we look forward to continuing and building on it in the coming years,» Andrew Cowan, Chief Executive Officer of Manchester Airport.
