WestJet boosts Manitoba connectivity with new Atlanta flight

On September 6, WestJet launched new cross-border service between Winnipeg and Atlanta with five weekly flights available year-round. The new route will strengthen the connectivity of the province of Manitoba and the southeastern United States, boosting economic and tourism growth in both regions by significantly increasing new air links to the province.

Flight WS 1360 was operated on a Boeing 737 registered as C-GVWA. The aircraft took off from James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) at 09:20 local time and landed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) at 13:04, after two hours and 44 minutes.

The inaugural event for the new route held at Price Industries was attended by prominent guests and provincial partners like Heather Stefanson, Premier of Manitoba; Nick Hays, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Airport Authority; Scott Gillingham, Mayor of Winnipeg; and Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Winnipeg Economic Development.

«Direct flights to Atlanta will allow for important business connections, especially in the agribusiness, advanced manufacturing and creative industries, three of our key industries,» said Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Winnipeg Economic Development.
