Viva Aerobus Bets Big on AIFA: 17 New Routes

Viva Aerobus will add 17 new destinations from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, marking its largest expansion at this terminal, which serves as an alternative to the slot-constrained Mexico City International Airport, almost tripling the number of routes currently served.

  • Tulum: December 1.
  • Guadalajara: December 9.
  • Ciudad Juárez: December 16.
  • Mérida: December 16.
  • Huatulco: January 8, 2024.
  • Chihuahua: January 8, 2024.
  • Reynosa: January 8, 2024.
  • Nuevo Laredo: January 8, 2024.
  • Veracruz: January 8, 2024.
  • Tampico: January 9, 2024.
  • Villahermosa: January 9, 2024.
  • Chetumal: April 4, 2024.
  • Puerto Vallarta: April 4, 2024.
  • Tuxtla Gutierrez: April 4, 2024.
  • Los Cabos: April 18, 2024.
  • Ciudad Obregón: July 4, 2024.
  • Durango: July 5, 2024.

These routes will complement those that Viva Aerobus already operates from the AIFA: Acapulco, Cancún, Havana, Hermosillo, Monterrey, Mazatlán, Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, Tijuana, and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, with an average of 55 flights per week.

According to the company, with this expansion, they expect to offer 4.5 million seats at the AIFA during 2024, five times more than in 2023, turning it into a new strategic hub for the center of the country with 12 planes based there.

For his part, Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus, said, «these 17 new routes are designed to meet the growing demand for air connectivity in the metropolitan area with the best value proposition with new aircraft, direct flights, and low prices that benefit all passengers and boost tourism, competitiveness, and the economic spillover of our country.»
