Inspection of Russian Fighter Jet Factory Amidst Western Sanctions

On Friday, Kim Jong Un inspected Sukhoi factory which is currently facing Western sanctions. This move is viewed with apprehension by Washington and its allies as it is feared to strengthen Russia’s military stance in Ukraine and enhance Pyongyang’s missile program.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un engaged in discussions encompassing the war in Ukraine, military matters, and potential areas for deepening cooperation during their meeting on Wednesday.

Exploring the Technical Prowess of Russian Aviation

During his visit, Kim interacted with test pilots at the fighter jet fuselage assembly shop, getting firsthand information about the technical specifications and flight performance of the fifth-generation fighter jet, Su-57. He also explored the features of an airliner produced by the plant and witnessed the test flight of an Su-35 fighter jet.

Concerns from South Korea and the United States

Following the visit, South Korea and the United States declared that the military collaboration between North Korea and Russia stands as a violation of U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang, vowing to ensure repercussions.
