British Airways doubles flights to San Diego

-

British Airways will increase its service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and London Heathrow Airport to two daily flights. The second daily connection will boost the airline’s connectivity between California and the United Kingdom.

San Diego is one of the top 30 U.S.-European passenger markets with the strongest recovery from the pandemic. SAN-Europe passenger numbers are currently 12% higher than in 2019. Passenger traffic on the San Diego-London route has increased significantly, 28% above pre-pandemic levels. Additional services to London will increase demand in the region.

British Airways first lands in San Diego in June 2011 with daily service. The current BA 273/BA 272 service will change aircraft from the 331-seat Airbus A350-1000 to the 214-seat Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The additional BA 264/BA 265 flight will be operated on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with 272 seats in three classes.

The increase in capacity to London in the summer of 2024 will increase by 47% over summer 2023 levels. In total, by next year, British Airways will have a supply of more than 27,000 seats per month between San Diego and London.

«We are delighted to launch a second daily flight from San Diego, further supporting the growth of business and leisure travel in the city and demonstrating our commitment to the region. This new frequency will offer more choice and convenience to our customers and is a welcome addition to our California schedule,» said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Networks and Alliances.
