Aerolíneas Argentinas has announced a brand new route connecting the cities of Montevideo, Uruguay, and Mar del Plata, Argentina, with bi-weekly frequencies during the summer season.
This never-before-operated route by the company promises to enhance the tourism potential in the region. The flights will be operated on Wednesdays and Saturdays with Aerolineas’ 96-seat Embraer E190AR fleet, taking off from the Uruguayan capital at 11:00 and 10:20 respectively, with return journeys from the Argentinian city scheduled at 18:10 and 17:20.
Seasonal flights expansion
The new flight adds to the seasonal routes that Mar del Plata receives during the summer, including connections with Rosario and Tucumán. This Montevideo route will be functional from January 3rd to March 3rd.
This new route will further encourage the influx of Uruguayan visitors directly to one of Argentina’s prime tourist attractions – the coastal city of Mar del Plata. «The inbound tourism translates to job creation and an influx of foreign currency. We continue to promote it alongside Aerolíneas,» commented Argentina’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Matías Lammens.
Commitment to local economies
“We are committed to encouraging and enhancing tourism and the development of all local economies, particularly Mar del Plata’s. This new segment connecting us to Montevideo fills us with pride as we collaboratively work to provide more opportunities for our city,” explained María Fernanda Raverta, the executive director of ANSES and mayoral candidate for Mar del Plata.
“With these flights, we are enhancing Mar del Plata’s inbound profile and international connectivity. We have been strongly focusing on this strategy, which has given us great results, particularly with the direct flights from Brazil. Together with flights from Córdoba, Mendoza, Rosario, Tucumán, and a significant increase in frequencies from Buenos Aires, we are projecting a record summer for the city,” said Pablo Ceriani, president of Aerolíneas Argentinas.
Aerolíneas Argentinas operates 21 weekly frequencies to Mar del Plata from Buenos Aires, which will increase to 28 weekly in October. Additionally, it connects with Córdoba and Bahía Blanca three times a week, and with Mendoza twice a week. Furthermore, during the summer high season, flights are operated to Tucumán and Rosario.
