Boliviana de Aviación to launch flights to Paraguay

Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) confirmed its plans to expand its operations to Paraguay after formally submitting a request to that country’s National Civil Aviation Authority (DINAC) to begin the necessary administrative procedures, according to our affiliate Aeronautica Paraguay.

The start of operations is scheduled for September the 28th, when BoA will begin flying three times a week between Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Asunción using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

BoA’s strategy is focused on developing Santa Cruz de la Sierra’s Viru Viru airport as a new hub for the Southern Cone. The airline typically offers lower fares to destinations such as Miami and Madrid from cities such as Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo, which represents an attractive option for travelers from Paraguay and the northeastern provinces of Argentina, who often use Silvio Pettirossi airport as a gateway to more distant international destinations.

BoA has also taken a leap in quality by starting to replace its Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which are almost 30 years old, with the more modern Airbus A330-200s, thus offering an improved travel experience for its passengers.

On the route between Asunción and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, BoA will face competition from other airlines such as Amaszonas, which operates four weekly flights, and Paranair, which offers six weekly flights.

With the entry of Boliviana de Aviación into the air market between Paraguay and Bolivia, greater competition is expected, which would benefit passengers with a wide variety of options and possibly more competitive fares.
