Airbus published the operational results corresponding to the second quarter of 2023. In these, the manufacturer accounts for the orders and deliveries of aircraft carried out by its commercial division between the months of April and June.
In total, Airbus received 902 orders for commercial aircraft during the quarter, and it has a portfolio of 1080 orders for the year. The largest order belongs to Indigo and was closed during the previous Paris Air Show. This order includes 375 units of the A321neo and 125 units of the A320neo, and it is the largest order in the history of commercial aviation. The transaction, the price of which has not been disclosed, extends beyond 2030.
In second place, Air India’s order for 240 units of A320neo family aircraft adds to Airbus’ order book. During the Paris Air Show, the national flag carrier of the Asian country converted its options from February into firm orders, and it is now in line to acquire 140 A320neo, 70 A321neo, and 34 A350-1000 aircraft – the largest variant of its type – with delivery dates that have not yet been disclosed for the single-aisle aircraft. The A350s, on the other hand, will be delivered starting in 2025.

Interestingly, June was characterized by Airbus receiving nearly 100 orders from unidentified customers. On the 2nd, someone ordered 60 aircraft from the manufacturer: 22 of the A320neo variant and 38 units of the A321neo. Taking into account market values – without considering discounts and bonuses – this transaction is valued at over 4.000 billion dollars. A week later, on June 9th, another unidentified customer acquired 10 units of the A350-900, which has a list price of around 315 million dollars per unit.
Finally, closing out June, Airbus received three orders from unidentified customers. On the 26th, there were four orders for the A330neo in its -900 variant, and on the 30th, two orders were placed, one for twelve A220-300 and the other for six A320neo.
As for deliveries, a total of 189 units were delivered in the quarter, with the A321neo being the most popular model with 32 aircraft. In 2023 so far, Airbus has delivered 316 aircraft to their owners, with the A321neo in first place (147 units). It is followed by the A320neo (106), A220-300 (25), A350 (16 A350-900 and 5 A350-1000), A330neo (12 A330-900 and 2 A330-800). In last place was the A319neo, with only 3 units delivered.
