Iberia boosts its flight offer to the United States for the winter season

Iberia is increasing its operations between the United States and Spain for the winter season by 24% compared to pre-pandemic levels. The Spanish airline will have a schedule of more than 90 weekly flights between the two regions.

Service to Boston will increase from three to five flights a week operated on Airbus A330-300s, restoring capacity offered in 2019. Iberia is the only airline to fly between Madrid and Logan Airport year-round.

In South Florida, the Spanish airline will offer two daily flights to Miami operated on Airbus A330-300s. The connection to New York JFK will have a schedule of between 11 and 14 flights per week depending on the peak period, with services operated on Airbus A350-900 and A330-200.

In addition, during the winter season Iberia will continue to fly daily to Chicago O’Hare, the service to Dallas/Fort Worth will continue to operate year-round with a schedule of four flights a week on Airbus A330-300s.

Los Angeles will be the airline’s only U.S. West Coast destination during the winter with three flights per week on Airbus A350-900s. Routes to Washington – Dulles and San Francisco will remain suspended for the winter and will resume for the summer of next year.

The United States is Spain’s main long-haul market, and Iberia and its partner American Airlines are the alliance that provides the most seats and frequencies between the two regions. According to data obtained through the Department of Transportation (DOT), in 2019 between Madrid and the U.S. 3,159,430 passengers were mobilized, it was the sixth busiest European destination in the North American nation.

  1. New York JFK: 1,192,680 passengers carried by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air Europa, Iberia and LEVEL.
  2. Miami: 856,716 passengers served by American Airlines, Iberia and Air Europa.
  3. Newark: 321,060 passengers served by United Airlines.
  4. Dallas/Fort Worth: 223,213 passengers served by American Airlines and Iberia.
  5. Atlanta: 214,491 passengers served by Delta Air Lines.
  6. Chicago O’Hare: 213,234 passengers served by American Airlines and Iberia.
  7. Washington – Dulles: 189,358 passengers carried by United Airlines and Iberia.
  8. Los Angeles: 174,343 passengers served by Iberia and LEVEL.
  9. Boston: 166,905 passengers mobilized by Iberia and LEVEL.
  10. Philadelphia: 164,295 passengers carried by American Airlines.
