#TBT: American Airlines flights between Miami and Córdoba

-

In 2018, following several months of rumors, American Airlines finally announced the start of scheduled flights to Córdoba, Argentina. The inauguration date was on June 6th, 2019 offering four weekly services with 209-seat Boeing 767-300(ER) aircraft.

Córdoba was resuming its non-stop connection with the United States after a three-year suspension, as the last operations had been carried out by Aerolíneas Argentinas until 2016.

American’s start-up generated high expectations, since it was the first time that the airline operated to an Argentine city other than Buenos Aires, and also because it was a long-standing rumor that had been around for many years.

Six months after the inauguration, in December 2019, American Airlines announced the suspension of its flights between Miami and Cordoba starting in May 2020, due to low demand. As a result of the pandemic, the last scheduled service was in March 2020, nine months after the inaugural flight.

Three years have passed and Córdoba continues without non-stop operations with the United States. Buenos Aires, Panama City, Lima and Santiago de Chile are still the main options to fly to and from the USA.
