Spirit Airlines lands in San Jose, California

On June 7, Spirit Airlines expanded its offerings on the West Coast of the United States with the start of operations at its 7th airport in California: San Jose (SJC). The launch of this destination includes nonstop service from Dallas, Las Vegas and San Diego.

The first service to land was flight NK 2518 which was operated on an Airbus A320neo registered as N978NK. The aircraft departed Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) at 08:29 local time and arrived at Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) at 09:28, after 59 minutes.

To celebrate the start of operations, new airline customers in San Jose (SJC) can enroll in the Free Spirit loyalty program and enjoy promotions to fly to/from San Jose. To qualify members must book by July 7, 2023.

Spirit’s San Jose (SJC) Routes

The low-cost carrier will offer 10,192 weekly seats and four daily flights all operated on Airbus A320neo aircraft at Norman Y. Mineta International Airport.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth: daily flights.
  • Las Vegas: two daily flights.
  • San Diego: daily flights.

Spirit’s California destination network has nonstop service to Burbank, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego, Sacramento, San Jose (SJC) and Orange County.

Spirit Airlines also honored its new service at Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) by awarding a $10,000 scholarship to a local flight academy student who aspires to become a commercial airline pilot. The scholarship will support flight training costs at San Jose-based Trade Winds Aviation for a student in San Jose State University’s Professional Flight Program.
