The company already offers three weekly services (available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) between Fredericton and Calgary with a brief stopover of about an hour in Toronto. However, Lynx Air noted that passengers can start and complete their journey with a single boarding pass, checking their baggage through to the final destination and remaining on board for the duration of the stopover.
As of the launch of the new services, the airline has a network of 16 destinations in North America, to which it operates with its seven Boeing 737 MAX 8, configured with 189 seats in a single class.
«We are thrilled to be the first low fare airline to provide air service to Fredericton, New Brunswick’s most central airport», said Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx Air. «The province of New Brunswick is a bucket list destination for many Canadians and they now have an affordable option to visit this beautiful region», she added.
«This flight opens up new tourism opportunities, enables families to reconnect and makes it easier than ever for business travellers to connect to new markets», said Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority. «We are a growing airport and Lynx Air, with its experienced management team and on-time track record, is an excellent ultra-low-cost option allowing additional traffic to and from our region», she added.
