LATAM Airlines Peru resumes flights to Venezuela

-

According to the LATAM Airlines’ website, they have commenced marketing for August flights between Lima and Caracas. This service, however, remains subject to government approval.

LATAM to add a new domestic route in Chile

The company’s last operation between Peru and Venezuela was on July 27, 2016, with a service operated on an Airbus A319, on a weekly frequency basis.

In April, the Peruvian Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) approved LATAM Airlines Peru’s request for a technical inspection to resume operations to Venezuela. Peruvian authorities visited Caracas between April 25 and 28 to assess the necessary conditions for the airline to initiate operations at Maiquetia International Airport.

The company plans to offer 2,436 weekly seats, and will compete in this sector with Conviasa, currently providing a bi-weekly non-stop service between Lima and Caracas. Moreover, the Peruvian subsidiary will be the first LATAM Group airline to resume flights to Venezuela.

LATAM Flight Schedule to Caracas

Starts August 1, 2023.

  • Lima – Caracas Flight LA 2448 LIM 12:30 – CCS 17:40 daily flights.
  • Caracas – Lima Flight LA 2449 CCS 19:10 – LIM 22:05 daily flights.

The route will be serviced by an Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 passengers. Promotional fares are available from 338 USD for Economy and 453 USD for Premium Economy one-way tickets.

As per data obtained by Aviacionline via the Peruvian DGAC, 6,019 passengers and 3,086 kilograms of cargo were transported between Caracas and Lima in 2022.

LATAM Airlines is also looking to commence flights between Colombia and Venezuela. It has been authorized by Aeronáutica Civil to initiate a route between Bogotá – Caracas and is awaiting approval from the Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil (INAC) to actualize this service.

Recently, the presidents of Venezuela and Brazil convened to reestablish diplomatic relations, which could potentially lead to the reactivation of LATAM Brazil flights between Caracas and Sao Paulo in the future.

With the new service from LATAM Peru, the South American network from Maiquetia Airport (CCS) will feature non-stop flights to Bogota, Barranquilla, Santiago de Chile, Manaus, Santa Cruz de la Viru Viru, and soon Lima.
