Brazilian Air Force Receives Two new SAAB F-39 Gripen Fighters

Two more new F-39 Gripen for the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) were unloaded this morning, arriving in Brazil by sea.

The two units were transported on a cargo ship from Sweden to the Port of Navegantes (Santa Catarina State), from where they were removed from the ship during Friday morning.

Of the 36 fighters originally contracted to the Swedish firm SAAB, and including the aircraft unloaded from the ship this morning, there are already six F-39 Gripen present in Brazilian territory.

However, the FAB has more ambitious plans and wants to increase the firm order to 70 units in successive blocks, in order to be able to phase out its older fighters, such as the AMX or the F-5BR, even if this means dedicating fewer resources to other important programs, such as the KC-390 Millennium.
