Hawaiian Airlines Unveils Luxurious Interior of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Hawaiian Airlines today revealed its enhanced commitment to premium leisure travel with the introduction of the interior of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and the new Leihōkū premium service class.

From next year, passengers aboard Hawaiian’s 787 will enjoy a cabin design that evokes the nature of Hawaii, featuring «bold textures, island sunrise and sunset-inspired lighting, and patterns reminiscent of the ocean and wind,» according to the airline.

Hawaiian Boeing 787-9 Leihōkū Suites

The Leihōkū suites are Hawaiian’s latest premium offering on its 300-seat 787. They include 34 suites that provide a serene and elegant space with fully reclining seats, 18-inch onboard entertainment screens, personal sockets, wireless charging, and direct aisle access.

Configured in a 1-2-1 layout with doors, the suites can offer privacy or a shared experience, with combined double seats that allow couples to doze off under a starlit ceiling.

Design and Comfort in the Main Cabin

In Hawaiian’s 787 Dreamliner main cabin, composed of 266 Aspire seats from Collins Aerospace with ergonomically contoured backrests and armrests, passengers will enjoy a modern, light design that maximizes seat space, offers more shoulder and hip room, and features a 12-inch seatback monitor with USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

The 787 offers better air filtration in the cabin, and its carbon fiber composite airframe allows for travel at a lower cabin altitude, resulting in a more comfortable flight.

Passengers will also notice a quieter cabin thanks to the engines’ acoustic treatment, as well as extra-large windows, spacious overhead compartments, and contactless-activated toilets and faucets.

Hawaiian’s 787 will feature a system that will project simulations onto the cabin ceiling, depicting soft daylight, sunrises and sunsets, or starry night skies. Guests in the Leihōkū suites will be able to gaze at a luminous star compass ceiling that recalls the constellations that guided Polynesian navigators at night.

‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) is also integrated into seat row numbers and other signs to guide guests through the cabin as they begin their journey. Laminates and fabrics reflect the shapes of native plants throughout the cabin.

Hawaiian is scheduled to receive the first of 12 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in November, with additional deliveries planned until 2027. This initiative represents a significant step in the airline’s effort to continue raising the standard of leisure travel and offer a unique and authentic experience that reflects Hawaii’s rich culture and beautiful nature.
