American Airlines and JetSMART move forward with codeshare agreement

-

American Airlines and JetSMART are moving forward with a codeshare agreement that will allow the sale of domestic flights within Chilean territory operated by the ultra low-cost carrier, which will initially cover routes from Santiago de Chile to Antofagasta, Concepción and Puerto Montt.

American Airlines and JetSMART: There is blood on the streets

This offer is possible thanks to the investment made by American Airlines in JetSMART in 2021. This resulted in a request for the implementation of a Code-Share agreement submitted to the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) in April 2023.

American Airlines Extends Its Network to South American Destinations

This strategy will allow American Airlines to expand its network of destinations in South American countries where Indigo Partners’ subsidiary operates domestic flights, offering a single ticket to remote destinations far from South American capitals where it flies with its own planes.

The operation was confirmed by sources close to American Airlines, who also indicated that other JetSMART subsidiaries (Argentina, Peru, and Colombia) will be integrated, although a start date for these cases could not be specified.

Developing Story.
