Air Caraïbes Increases Flights to Dominican Republic to fill Air France’s Void

-

Air Caraïbes has unveiled part of its Winter 2023/2024 schedule, highlighting an increase in flights to Punta Cana (PUJ) and the resumption of operations in Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ), Dominican Republic. Additionally, the airline plans an uptick in its flights to the French Caribbean islands.

Stepping up in Air France’s Absence

Following Air France’s cessation of operations in Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Punta Cana (PUJ) on March 31, Air Caraïbes is stepping up to meet emerging demand, becoming the sole operator between France and the Dominican Republic.

Currently, the airline operates three weekly flights from Paris/Orly (ORY) to Punta Cana (PUJ). According to the company’s statement, from October 20, Punta Cana (PUJ) will have direct flights. Moreover, frequency will increase to five weekly flights, and from December 14, a daily flight will be offered.

Resuming Operations in Santo Domingo

From October 20, Air Caraïbes will resume its operations between Paris/Orly (ORY) and Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ) with two weekly flights.

All flights will be conducted on the Airbus A350-900, with a capacity of 389 passengers, enabling the airline to offer between 5,446 and 7,002 flights per week in the Dominican Republic.

Connections and Partnerships

Air Caraïbes provides connections from and to the Dominican Republic to other French destinations via partnerships with Air Corsica and Chalair, as well as with railway companies SNCF and TGV, expanding the destination options in Europe.

Boosting Flights to Guadeloupe and Martinique

Air Caraïbes plans to boost its operations to Guadeloupe and Martinique from Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ), aiming to maintain the flow of French tourists to the Dominican Republic.

The Current Status of Air Caraïbes

With a fleet of thirteen aircraft, Air Caraïbes is the largest airline in the French overseas territories in the Caribbean. Most of its flights depart from Paris/Orly (ORY), connecting to destinations such as Cayenne (CAY), French Guiana, Cancún (CUN), Mexico, and Fort-de-France (FDF), Martinique, among others.

From its second hub, Pointe-á-Pitre, the airline operates to destinations like Fort-de-France (FDF), Martinique; Santo Domingo (SDQ), Dominican Republic; St. Marteen (SXM), and St. Barthelemy (SBH).
