Today, Air Canada and flydubai announced a new alliance, providing customers with more convenient travel options between Canada, the Middle East, East Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and South Asia.
Pending final regulatory approval, Air Canada’s marketing code will be placed on nine routes operated from Dubai by flydubai, facilitating a single-ticket travel to these markets. The routes encompass Middle Eastern cities such as Medina, Dammam, Bahrain, Jeddah, and Muscat, as well as flights to Colombo and Karachi in the Indian Subcontinent.
Interconnection for Greater Reach
Furthermore, through an interline agreement, customers can seamlessly connect in Dubai to over 60 destinations that flydubai serves in the Middle East, East Africa, and South Asia, including Kathmandu, Djibouti, and the Maldives. Of these destinations, more than 30 are unique to flydubai and not operated by other Air Canada partners.
«Air Canada is thrilled to partner with flydubai, further expanding our connectivity with the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, a growing source of immigration and travel to Canada. This new alliance perfectly complements Air Canada’s non-stop service to Dubai from Toronto and Vancouver, and strengthens our relationship with Emirates, flydubai’s codeshare partner. Together, we look forward to merging our networks and enhancing the experience for our customers», said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.
Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, also commented: «We’re delighted to add Air Canada to our list of partners and to offer their passengers a seamless travel experience across the flydubai network. We look forward to strengthening this alliance, providing passengers with the benefits and convenience of connecting through Dubai’s aviation hub, and we hope to welcome them on board soon».
The airlines also plan to further enhance the connection process in Dubai and are working to introduce expanded features and benefits for members of their respective loyalty programs, to be announced later this year.
