On March 31st, 2002, after a 68-year history, Swissair ceased operations following a severe economic crisis. Flight SR 111 crash in 1998, a failed business strategy and 9/11 were three of the main consequences.

Shortly after the closure of Swissair, Swiss International Air Lines, an airline with its hub in Zurich, was born. As for South America, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo are its destinations.
