LATAM Resumes Nonstop Flights between Santiago de Chile and Melbourne

LATAM Airlines Group has declared the recommencement of nonstop flights connecting Santiago de Chile and Melbourne, Australia, effective from September 1, 2023. The air service, which had been halted since April 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will join South America and the Australian city with a flight extending over 11,000 kilometers, making it the longest in the Group.

At the outset, flights will restart with a frequency of three times per week, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, accommodating 300 passengers in Premium Business, Economy+, and Economy cabins.

The group had previously reinitiated its services to Australia in March with thrice-weekly flights to Sydney, gradually expanding operations until achieving a daily flight by December 2022.

«We are thrilled to enhance the connectivity between South America and Oceania with this additional route to Australia. We pledge to continue providing more options to safely, promptly, and reliably bring people closer to their destination,» stated María Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager, LATAM Airlines Group.

Furthermore, Ben Carroll, the Minister of Industry and Innovation of the State Government of Victoria (Australia), emphasized the significance of LATAM resuming operations in Oceania. «This move will bolster our economy by stimulating exports, generating jobs, and attracting more tourists and students from Latin America,» he said.

The updated schedule can now be accessed on LATAM.com, LATAM Travel, Contact Center, and authorized travel agencies.

Starting September 1, LATAM Airlines Group’s flight LA805 will depart from Santiago (SCL) at 00:55 (local time) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, landing in Melbourne (MEL) at 05:30 (local time) the subsequent day.

Conversely, the initial flight from Melbourne, LA804, is scheduled for September 2 at 12:25 (local time) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Santiago at 11:20 the same day (local time).
